Founder & Executive Recruiter
Stephanie M. Vavonese, Owner and Executive Recruiter of SMV Recruiting, LLC & Brew Recruit, comes to us with over 12 years of industry experience. In 2006, after graduating from American University, where she double majored in Political Science and Public Communications, she started her career as a Staffing Consultant for Randstad Professionals (formerly Acsys, Inc.). In this role she focused on the temporary placement of accounting and finance professionals.
In 2010 she made the courageous decision to resign from Randstad to travel around the world. Her travels took her to over 31 counties and allowed her to volunteer in Costa Rica, Africa and India. Upon her return, Randstad invited her back to work as a Senior Executive Recruiter focused on the permanent placements of Senior Accountants to CFO's.
With a desire to move back to her hometown, Vavonese accepted a lead recruiting role with SRC, Inc., a non-profit defense contractor, in Syracuse, NY. Here she was tasked with recruiting electrical and computer engineers, data scientists, and information assurance analysts for the intelligence community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) for all clearance levels including TS/SCI with poly's. In 2017, Vavonese decided to start her onw recruiting business, SMV Recruiting, LLC, and focus on permanent placements in Upstate NY and the DC Metro. She has consistently grown this business and has built a reputation for excellence, which is what has inspired her to launch Brew Recruit.
Stephanie is an active member of her community and is a member of the Salvation Army's Syracuse Area Young Leaders board and is an ARISE Foundation board member. She is also an avid supporter and volunteer of ARISE & Ski's adaptive ski program. She enjoys traveling, skiing, sailing, running, photography and most importantly spending time with her family.

David Katleski is President and Lead Consultant of Brew Recruit and brings over 25 years of experience owning and operating three award winning brewpubs, a large regional farm brewery and six additional restaurants. Having interviewed and hired thousands of employees during his professional career, David brings to us an unprecedented recruiting skill. For the past three years he focused his efforts working with breweries as a business consultant with his firm DKAT Associates and brings these services to Brew Recruit. As founder of the NewYork State Brewers Association, he has effectively advocated for the protection and promotion of craft breweries for over 20 years. He is the recipient of the 2023 NYSBA Support of the Industry Award and in 2013 received the distinguished Defense of the Industry Award from the Brewers Association based in Boulder, CO.
As the founded of Empire Brewing Company David implemented progressive, innovative and sustainable business practice. Winning 13 Great American Beer Festival Medals and 2 World Beer Cup Medals, the quality and consistency of beer is always at the forefront. He was given the Snail of Approval Award from Slow Food for his implementation of carbon footprint reduction measures and locally sourced foods, grains and hops.
