From the Beginning
Our story is short and sweet. We started SMV Recruiting in 2017 after working in the industry for over 10 years. Having experience with both large recruiting firms and internal recruiting, the chance to combine both areas of expertise and become a leader in the industry was just too good to pass up. So here we are and hope to add much more to this story in the future.

Owner & Executive Recruiter
Stephanie M. Vavonese, Owner and Executive Recruiter, of SMV Recruiting, comes to us with over 10 years of industry experience. In 2006, after graduating from American University, where she double majored in Political Science and Public Communications, she started her career as a Staffing Consultant for Randstad Professionals (formerly Acsys, Inc.). In this role she focused on the temporary placement of accounting and finance professionals.
In 2010 she made the courageous decision to resign from Randstad to travel around the world. Her travels took her to over 35 counties and allowed her to volunteer in Costa Rica, Africa and India. Upon her return, Randstad invited her back to work as a Senior Executive Recruiter focused on the permanent placements of Senior Accountants to CFO's.
With a desire to move back to her hometown Vavonese accepted a lead recruiting role with SRC, Inc., a non-profit defense contractor, in Syracuse, NY. Here she was tasked with recruiting cleared electrical and computer engineers, data scientist, and information assurance analyst for the intelligence community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) for all clearance levels including TS/SCI with poly's.
Stephanie is an active member of her community and is member of the Salvation Army's Syracuse Area Young Leaders board and is an ARISE Foundation board member. She is also an avid supporter and volunteer of ARISE & Ski's adaptive ski program. She enjoys traveling, skiing, sailing, running, photography (all pictures on the site were taken by Stephanie herself) and most importantly spending time with her family.
